I'm glad you understand hugging trees. My name is a combination of names. ZSun-nee is a combination of a knickname my grandmother gave me and a name given to me at an initiation I was asked to join in a Maryland creek. I began using it when my grandmother passed.
The last name Matema is a reclaimed name discovered when I began to research my family's family tree. It is the name of a Native American great, great grandmother who escaped the trail of tears by lagging behind and later married dropping her name and becoming "Mrs. Kimball."
The name means: "One in the Light who does good or Spiritual things for others." The little person in my arms is my three year-old granddaughter, Harmony. We are standing in front of a permanent marker I authored after five years of research as a volunteer of the Historic Maryland National Road project. It tells the story of the early "colored" United Methodist Churches along the National Road.
I'm big on history as you can see. Now, I want to concentrate on writing and theater to tell what I have learned.
I love your "minimal" thank you list. You really sound as if you have give life a lot of thought and are very happy to just "be." I, too love seeing nature all around and am an old hugger of trees.
